What District Slabs Have Been Through

Concrete in The District has accumulated the combined effect of freeze-thaw cycling, MoDOT salt and brine exposure, urban subgrade complexity from a century of building and rebuilding, and the use history of whatever commercial or residential activity has occupied the space. Crack networks in older District slabs often combine freeze-thaw-origin damage, settlement-origin damage from disturbed subgrade, and chloride-driven cement paste deterioration in zones with heavy salt exposure.

Structural crack repair on District slabs uses low-viscosity epoxy injection for stable hairline cracks, polyurea fill for cracks with ongoing movement, and structural patching for spalled and pitted areas. Each crack's repair approach is matched to its character as identified during the free assessment.

When Repair Is the Right Path

Most District slabs we assess are repairable, even with extensive accumulated damage. Full replacement is a more disruptive and costly path that does not address the subgrade conditions that drove the damage in the first place.
